This wooden saddle frame was donated by Chief Sylvester Tinker of the Osage Nation to the Kansas Historical Society in 1987. It is covered in rawhide and sewn with sinew. The front and rear saddle horns are outlined in brass tacks. Chief Tinker remembered: "…this saddle was picked up at Old Man Hard Rope's camp over in the vicinity of Fairfax (Oklahoma)." The Tinker collection includes hundreds of items such as these revealing the rich facets of Osage culture.
