This celt was found at an archeological camp site in Jefferson County and donated to the Kansas Historical Society in 1972. This woodworking tool would have been manufactured by grinding or pecking it into a general shape followed by polishing. It would have been hafted onto a handle and required periodic resharpening. The Hamon site is a Grasshopper Falls phase Early Ceramic period site with Valley phase, Sterns Creek, and Loseke Creek components (multiple occupations).
